Department of History lecture – 150 Years after Confederation

What Challenges Await Canada in the Future?

A bilingual, public lecture presented by the Department of History of the University of Ottawa.

The Department of History is pleased to invite you to join us in reflecting on major issues that have had an impact on Canada so far and will continue to do so. For this occasion, we have assembled a panel of four experienced speakers:

Nicole St-Onge will give a broad outline of the historical relationship between the Indigenous and Métis peoples and the federal government.

Serge Durflinger will discuss the national and international considerations that have led to Canada’s involvement in armed conflict around the world for over a century.

Michel Bock will take stock of the history of linguistic relations in Canada.

Manon Cornellier will address the challenges facing Canada in the future.

This bilingual event will be followed by a cocktail reception. Cash bar.
