2006 Yates Cup Champions Reunion
On September 17th, 2016, the uOttawa Gee-Gees football program will welcome back its 2006 Yates Cup Champion Team to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the triumph. A decade has passed since the uOttawa Gee-Gees took the Yates Cup home after a dominating 32-14 win over the visiting Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. It was the first Yates Cup victory since 1976.
Former players, coaching staff, alumni, family and friends are invited to celebrate the victory. We will reminisce on the exciting game despite torrential downpour throughout most of the afternoon and the rowdy 4,159 fans who attended the Yates Cup at Frank Clair Stadium on November 11th, 2006.
In the afternoon, the current Gee-Gees squad will play the Guelph Gryphons at Gee-Gees Field.
Schedule of events:
10:30am: Breakfast at Father & Sons Restaurant (112 Osgoode St)
12:55pm: Pre-Game on-field recognition ceremony honoring the 2006 team
1:00pm: uOttawa Gee-Gees vs. Guelph Gryphons football game at Gee-Gees Field (200 Lees Av.)
Post-game : Snacks and drinks at the SmoQue Shack (129 York St)

About the Yates Cup
The Yates Cup was first presented in 1898 by Dr. Henry Brydges Yates of McGill University, to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, winner of the Canadian Intercollegiate Rugby Football Union. The Yates Cup is one of the oldest football trophies in North America, predating the Grey Cup by 11 Years. It was first presented in 1898 and has been awarded every year since, except during the two World Wars, when university football was not played.
