Medical research at the University of Ottawa fosters scientific creativity, stimulates intellectual curiosity and promotes academic excellence. Our graduate students and our researchers are recognized internationally for their work, which contributes significantly to the knowledge on causes of illnesses and to the development and evaluation of clinical interventions used to maintain and restore the health of Canadians.

Investing in excellence, the Faculty of Medicine has established a new MD/PhD program offering exceptional students the opportunity to pursue two degrees concurrently over seven years. In 2010, the University of Ottawa enrolled its first four students in the program, and three were selected in 2011.
