The André E. Lalonde Fund

André E. Lalonde’s enthusiasm for teaching is equal to his dedication to research, both of which he has performed with skill and devotion for more than 23 years. In August 2006, Dr. Lalonde became the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Science, a post he held until July 2007 when he was appointed Dean for a five-year term, which ended in June 2011. At the time of the creation of this fund, he taught Mineralogy and Geology in the Department of Earth Sciences. As well as receiving multiple awards for his teaching, the mineral lalondeite was named after him.

In honour of his vision, growth, excellence, research and teaching as the Dean of the Faculty of Science, the University of Ottawa will be restoring the mural “Les Yeux”, located on MacDonald Hall.
