Two horses represent the dignity, wisdom and spirit of the University, as well as its tradition of excellence in athletics. The side-by-side fleur-de-lys and trillium reflect the University’s roots in the Province of Ontario and its link to the Francophone community. The maple leaf reminds us that the University sits at the very heart of Canada’s capital. The two narrow bands at each edge of the ring allude to the Rideau Canal bordering the campus, and represent the Ottawa and Rideau Rivers.
