The Role of Psychologists in Reality TV

What Can We Learn from Big Brother Canada, The Amazing Race Canada and MasterChef Canada?

The Faculty of Social Sciences is proud to invite alumni, students and professors to a lecture by uOttawa alumnus Dr. Steven Stein called, "The Role of Psychologists in Reality TV: What Can We Learn from Big Brother Canada, The Amazing Race Canada and MasterChef Canada?"

Reality TV has now become one of the most watched formats on TV today, with millions of viewers tuning in to these shows each week. Yet many are still skeptical about the value and "reality" of these shows.

Dr. Steven Stein is the consulting psychologist to dozens of reality shows in Canada and the U.S. In this presentation, he'll share nine lessons from reality TV and draw a comparison between some of these shows and pioneering social psychology research of the 60s and 70s.

Discover what you can learn from top rated shows like Big Brother Canada, The Amazing Race Canada, MasterChef Canada, Panic Button and others.
