Civil Law Section conference : The Law and Social Media

The 2015 Alumni Week is now over. We look forward to seeing you in 2016!

The digital age has pushed the boundaries of communication, which is quicker and more efficient than ever before. But in the vast ocean of cyberspace, concepts such as intellectual property and privacy can become diluted. How do we disentangle one person’s rights from another’s when Facebook and Twitter are redefining the relationship between employees and employers, and the Internet allows global brands to instantly cross borders?

You are invited to join Civil Law Section professors Mistrale Goudreau and Charles-Maxime Panaccio, as well as alumnus Jean-Sébastien Rochon (LL.L ’93 – Civil law), who is Deputy Director and Senior Counsel, National eDiscovery and Litigation Support Services, of the Litigation Branch at Justice Canada, in exploring these social networks and their uncharted legal waters. Each panelist will discuss the issue in terms of their own area of expertise.

The lecture will be followed by a question and answer period and refreshments.

Saturday, May 9, 2015, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Fauteux Hall, room 302
